____ Treat all firearms as if they are loaded all the time. ____ Always keep the muzzle of your firearm pointed in the safest direction. The safest direction is where no injury & only minor property damage could occur if an unintentional round is fired. ____ Keep your finger off the trigger and out of the trigger guard until coming on target just before firing. ____ When handling your firearm maintain muzzle direction awareness, trigger finger placement awareness, and keep your weapon under your direct, positive control at all times. ____ Never handle firearms if you are using, or are under the influence of drugs or alcohol. ____ Be sure of the condition of your firearm at all times. (The working condition, whether it is loaded, unloaded, round in chamber, etc.) ____ Be sure of your target, what is in front of it, and behind it. ____ Never leave your firearm within access to unauthorized persons. ____ Never leave your firearm loaded when it is not under your direct, positive control or otherwise safely secured. ____ Make sure you use the correct ammunition for your firearm and proper type for purpose of use. ____ Safety must be your personal commitment at all times. |
